Have you ever made flatbread before?
It’s so easy to make! Especially when you’re working with a simple, no-yeast dough. Simple is what I need most days because I usually don’t have the time for fancy, elaborate recipes and meals. I’m guessing that I’m not the only one who is busy and needs quick, easy meals most of the time.
One of my go-to’s for a quick afternoon snack or a side for dinner is flatbread. Why? Because flatbread is so delicious, my whole family loves it, and flatbread pretty much pairs well with anything.
Garlic Honey Flatbread is a favorite in my home. It’s made with my favorite grain free cassava flour. {If you haven’t baked/cooked with it yet, I hope you will give it a try. It’s a wonderful source of resistant starch plus the best gluten free flour around in my opinion.} This flatbread is savory and a little sweet with glorious honey infused within and drizzled all over the top after it’s baked.
I used Yellow Star Thistle + Limited Edition Raw Honey from Sola Bee Farms to make this delicious grain free Garlic Honey Flatbread. Sola Bee Farms produces some of the best tasting honey I have ever had. My family absolutely loves their honey.
Sola Bee Farms honey is raw, unfiltered and 100% pure. You won’t find any fillers or added flavors in their honey. Just unpasteurized goodness with all of the pollen and beneficial properties left in the honey.
I usually get Sola Bee Farms raw honey at my local natural foods co-op. When I’m wanting a lighter color honey for recipes, I always get their White Sweet Clover or Yellow Star Thistle honey. But our main staple is almost always their Wild Blackberry honey. All of their honey is AMAZING … but their Wild Blackberry honey … crazy good, just saying.
If you can get your hands on Sola Bee Farms Limited Edition raw honey, make sure to stock up! Oh. My. Goodness. It’s unbelievable! My kids go crazy for this one. It’s so delicate, lovely and perfect in every way. My kids think it smells like cinnamon rolls.
Not only is Sola Bee Farms honey amazing flavor wise, but this family homestead run company is pretty awesome too. They are dedicated to sustainable practices, caring for the earth, green business practices and healthy honeybees. They even use recycled materials on their labels and recycled glass for their jars! How cool is that?!
Garlic Honey Flatbread
YOU WILL NEED: Small Saucepan, Large Mixing Bowl, Large Bar Pan/Large Baking Sheet, Unbleached Parchment Paper, Rolling Pin

Garlic Honey Flatbread {Grain Free}
This flatbread is savory and a little sweet with glorious honey infused within and drizzled all over the top after it’s baked.
Ingredients
Flatbread:
- 1 1/4 cups Otto's cassava flour (<-- this is the only cassava flour I use and recommend)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Celtic sea salt (<-- this is my favorite sea salt)
- 4 tablespoons grass-fed butter/ghee, melted or avocado oil
- 3 fresh garlic cloves, finely minced or grated
- 4 tablespoons organic sour cream
- 2 tablespoons Sola Bee Farms raw honey
- 1/2 cup filtered water
- 1/4 - 1/2 cup grated raw parmesan cheese, optional
Optional but Highly Recommended Toppings:
- 2-4 tablespoons Sola Bee Farms raw honey
- 3-4 tablespoons cilantro, Italian parsley, thyme, mint or basil - chopped
- Coarse or flaked sea salt
- Organic extra virgin olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine cassava flour, baking powder, garlic powder and sea salt. Set aside.
- In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat. Add minced or grated garlic and cook just until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat and add to the flour mixture.
- Add sour cream, honey and water to the flour mixture. Stir to combine. Once dough starts to come together, use clean hands to finish mixing and form dough into a ball. Once dough ball is formed, break in half and form into two dough balls. [Note: Dough should be moist.]
- Place a large sheet of parchment paper on a flat surface {the parchment paper should be the length of your baking sheet}. Place one dough ball on the parchment paper. Place another sheet of parchment paper {the length of your baking sheet} on top of the dough ball. [Note: The parchment paper helps keep the dough from sticking to the rolling pin. No extra flour is needed.] Using a rolling pin on top of the parchment paper, roll the dough out into a circle about 1/8" thick. Remove top layer of parchment paper, set aside to use again. Lift up parchment paper with the rolled out flatbread and place the whole sheet onto your baking sheet. [Note: Do not remove the flatbread dough from the parchment paper.]
- Repeat same steps for second flatbread.
- Top with optional grated parmesan.
- Place in preheated oven and reduce temperature to 375 degrees F. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until parmesan cheese is light golden brown and flatbread edges start to look crispy and turn light golden brown.
- Allow flatbread to cool on baking sheet for 15-20 minutes.
- Drizzle with a generous amount of Sola Bee Farms honey, a small amount of organic extra virgin olive oil, a sprinkling of coarse sea salt and lots of freshly chopped herbs. Cut into slices and serve immediately.
