Money Saving DIY Foaming Hand Soap ... making your own hand soap is so easy! This recipe only has 4 ingredients, it's safe and gentle, 100% all natural + organic.
Making your own hand soap is so easy!
Did you know there are so many toxic chemicals in conventional hand soaps? Most conventional brands contain at least 5 or more chemicals like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate {SLS}, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Triclosan, Parabens, Ureas, Diethanolamine {DEA}, 1,4-Dioxane, Propylene Glycol, Propylene Oxide, Polyethylene Glycol, Synthetic Fragrances, Synthetic Perfumes, Synthetic Colors, etc.
What we put on our skin is easily absorbed into our body. Makes you think, right?
I used to use those conventional brands all the time before I started using eco-friendly, non-toxic, "green" products. I'm so grateful there is a better + cheaper option!
This DIY recipe is so simple + easy to make. It only has 4 ingredients ... you won't find any toxic chemicals or names you can't pronounce in this recipe.
This "clean" or "green" money saving DIY foaming hand soap only contains 100% all natural + organic ingredients. You can feel confident knowing that you and your family won't be absorbing any toxins when you wash your hands.
The base for this DIY recipe is simple - water. Then you add a little bit of concentrated liquid castile soap, therapeutic-grade essential oils and a small amount of moisturizing carrier oil. So easy!
Plus it's so much cheaper than natural store-bought brands.
Have you seen the high price tag of the natural foaming hand soaps? I'm so glad those alternatives are available, but they're quite pricey and I still haven't found a truly 100% clean hand soap.
My family loves the way this money saving DIY foaming hand soap smells. We have a rule in our home that we have to wash our hands when we get home. My oldest, Little Love, didn't always love that rule, but now she actually enjoys washing her hands ... I always see her smelling her hands afterwards.
The great thing is this soap works so well + it’s gentle and safe for the whole family. I keep a bottle of this money saving DIY Foaming Hand Soap in our bathroom and in my kitchen. We even take a small bottle of it with us when we're traveling or on-the-go for the day.

Money Saving DIY Foaming Hand Soap
Money Saving DIY Foaming Hand Soap … making your own hand soap is so easy! This recipe only has 4 ingredients, it’s safe and gentle, 100% all natural + organic.
Materials
- 3-5 tablespoons unscented liquid castile soap
- 7-10 drops essential oil {I use Thieves, Lavender or Tea Tree ~ where to buy}
- ½ teaspoon liquid carrier oil like jojoba oil or organic olive oil {I always buy California olive oil}
- Filtered, distilled or boiled water*
Instructions
- Making sure to leave room for the bulky dispenser and the liquid soap, add water to the foaming hand soap dispensing bottle. Leaving that extra 1-2 inches at the top is important or the liquid will overflow when you add the soap dispenser.
- Add 3-5 tablespoons of liquid castile soap, essential oils and moisturizing liquid oil to the water.
- Replace dispenser lid securely and shake vigorously for a few seconds to combine.
- Use as needed.
Notes
- *Distilled, filtered or boiled water is best, but not necessary if the soap will be used within a few weeks.
- I have a bottle of this for hand washing in the bathroom and kitchen. Sometimes I use a combination of all 3 of the above mentioned essential oils.
- You can find foaming hand soap bottles here - 10 oz. or 14 oz. or you can reuse an old foaming hand soap dispensing bottle.

Great reminder for me 🙂 I have been so lazy about making our foaming soap but you are right - it is SO much cheaper!

I wasn't always so good at it either 😉 It took me a while to get into the swing.

I love this and can't wait to make it!! What's your favorite EO to use? I don't have grapefruit yet; but that sounds nice. Lavender is always good. 🙂
Emily Sunwell-Vidaurri
I mostly use Thieves, but occasionally do Lavender and Tea Tree or all three. 🙂

I finally made this!!! 🙂 Love it!

How exciting! Love that you made some 🙂

I love my foaming hand soap! It is SO easy to make and lasts quite awhile. Just get yourself some foaming dispensers and you're almost there. I use Thieves, Purification & Basil (separately). 🙂
Emily Sunwell-Vidaurri
I love the idea of Basil! I bet that smells yummy. 🙂

I have heard that some use thieves cleaner with the bronners, instead of jus the thieves oil... have you ever tried that or maybe have a suggested amount for the cleaner with the soap? Thanks.
Emily Sunwell-Vidaurri
I have never used the Thieves Cleaner for body care. It's such a super concentrated cleaner. I don't have a recommendation for that since it's not something I have used in that way. I prefer the actual essential oil for body care.
Kay
What size dispenser are these instructions for?
Emily Sunwell-Vidaurri
Hi Kay, I just used a common size - 8 oz., but this recipe is very flexible and forgiving - so you can pretty much use any size dispenser.
