Orange creamsicle smoothie with fresh oranges.

Real Food Orange Creamsicle Smoothie

Yield 1-2 servings

YOU WILL NEED: Ice Cube Tray, Knife, Cutting Board, Glass Measuring Cup or Medium Size Bowl, Fine Mesh Strainer, Microplane, Blender ... if you make popsicles out of the smoothie mixture, these are the BPA-free popsicle molds I use.

  1. The day before you want to make the smoothie, wash and zest all of the oranges. I use a microplane to do this. Add zest to glass measuring cup. Cut oranges in half and squeeze/juice oranges through a fine mesh strainer into a glass measuring cup. Pour freshly squeezed orange juice into a BPA-free ice cube tray. Freeze overnight until juice is frozen.
  2. Add frozen orange juice cubes and all remaining ingredients into blender. Blend until smooth and combined.
  3. Serve immediately.

Yield: About 2 1/2 cups. Serves 1-2.

OPTIONAL: This smoothie also makes delicious popsicles. Pour smoothie directly into popsicle molds and freeze for at least 6 hours or until solid + set.

INGREDIENTS I USED: I used local raw creamed clover honey. Make sure to use a lighter honey like clover, star thistle or orange blossom {wild flower varieties are too strong for this flavor combo}. I have used this and this honey brand before. For raw milk/cream resources, see my About page - scroll down to the bottom of that page. I used this organic vanilla extract. I love this cold water soluble {flavorless} grass-fed collagen and this grass-fed collagen is a good one too ... this is totally optional, but I like adding it for the extra protein boost + other nutritional benefits.
