Treat yourself to a big glass of this Antioxidant Blueberry Orange Smoothie! It's so refreshing, packed with protein and nourishing ingredients plus it's sugar free and perfect for breakfast or snacks.
If you're going to drink your meal, you want to make sure it's packed with nourishment!
This ANTIOXIDANT BLUEBERRY ORANGE SMOOTHIE is all that and then some.
I am all about nourishing drinks. I have favorites for staying hydrated plus all-time favorite warming drinks and some unique favorites too.
And then there's smoothies. Oh smoothies, how I love you.
You see, smoothies and I go way back. We have a fond love for each other. Okay, so that's kind of silly but in reality I have loved smoothies for many years. So much love for them that my first "real" job was at Jamba Juice over 22 years ago!
I had a smoothie at work every day I was there, sometimes two. I kind of lived off of them for a few years.
Every once in a while my co-workers and I would trade our "free shift smoothie" with other places in the same plaza and get Noah's Bagels instead or pizza from another restaurant. That was fun because each place had free "shift meals" and we could swap with each other as long as it was manager approved.
Those were the days! I say that sarcastically, but really, they were actually pretty fun.
I even remember one time that I was at work and my husband came in with some of our friends. We were not a couple then, but we did have a crazy mad crush on each other. Fun memories!
Clearly, those were the days when I didn't know gluten was an issue for me. Most people didn't know about gluten sensitivities and allergies back then.
I was also a very strict vegetarian back then (and was for over 15 years of my life then turned strict vegan for over 2 years).
I also didn't know a thing about pesticides or what organic means.
So much has changed since then, but I still have a strong love for smoothies. And that cute, athletic boy from high school is now my husband.
Since I love smoothies so much, I want to make sure and make them count because often they are a meal for me.
Make your smoothies count with superfoods and healthy ingredients.
For me this means always adding my favorite superfood + protein-packed + nourishing, grass-fed collagen, healthy fats, no sweetener (or very little natural sweetener), organic produce and making sure it's rich in vitamins, minerals or antioxidants.
This Antioxidant Blueberry Orange Smoothie is packed with antioxidant-rich blueberries (wild blueberries preferably), vitamin C from fresh orange juice, avocado oil (for a healthy fat) and gut/bone/joint/muscle/metabolism supporting grass-fed collagen.
Chew your smoothies!
I know that sounds weird, but it actually helps support your digestion. Even just the movement of the mouth kind of tricks your body and helps produce digestive enzymes (that your saliva contains).
The longer your "chew" your smoothie or even kind of swish it around in your mouth, the more time these enzymes have to start breaking down the smoothie, which makes digestion easier.
If that still seems weird to you, try adding some toppings to your smoothie (like fresh fruit, granola, coconut flakes, hemp seeds, etc.) or make it into a smoothie bowl so you have some textures to chew.
Nourishing and full of flavor!
This delicious Antioxidant Blueberry Orange Smoothie is sure to please the whole family! So stock up on some frozen blueberries (wild blueberries are best for antioxidants) and juicy oranges. You're going to want to make this several times before the citrus season is over.

Antioxidant Blueberry Orange Smoothie
Treat yourself to a big glass of this Antioxidant Blueberry Orange Smoothie! It's so refreshing, packed with protein and nourishing ingredients plus it's sugar free and perfect for breakfast or snacks.
Ingredients
- 2 cups frozen wild blueberries (reglar blueberries are fine too)
- 1 ½ cups frozen peaches OR 1 frozen banana
- 1 cup fresh orange juice (2-4 medium oranges = approx. 1 cup juice)
- ½ cup coconut water, coconut water kefir or filtered water
- 1-2 tablespoon avocado oil
- 3 drops liquid stevia drops - optional
- 2 scoops (or ¼ cup) grass-fed collagen (<-- and recommend)
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract - optional
- ¼ teaspoon Celtic sea salt or Himalayan salt (<-- salt)
- ½ teaspoon whole food vitamin C powder - optional
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a high powered blender.
- Blend until smoothie is thick and fully combined.
- Serve immediately. Enjoy!
Notes
I only recommend using a quality grass-fed collagen. Knowing the source and where the collagen comes from is very important. My favorite brand is Perfect Supplements Hydrolyzed Collagen. I am so impressed with the quality of their collagen + they're the only company on the market that I know of that is 100% pesticide free and has proof of purity.

Tip: Kids love smoothies with straws! I highly recommend serving smoothies with reusable straws if you want your little one to drink all of the smoothie.
Sweetener: If you prefer a sweeter smoothie, add 1 teaspoon up to 1 tablespoon of raw honey or maple syrup. You can also add 1-2 Medjool dates for a natural sweetener, just make sure to remove the pits first.
