Herbal Summer Sangria is the best!
It's one of the most refreshing drinks on a hot summer. The best part is this is one that you can share with the whole family!
Kids don't have to miss out! Everyone can enjoy this delicious, hydrating sangria.
My family is all about summer fruit this time of the year.
Especially when we have week stretches of 100 plus degrees. Yuck! It is SO hot in Northern California right now! We need all of the hydrating drinks that we can get!
We have a week stretch of 100 to 110 degree heat going on right now and it's insanely HOT. The only things my family is wanting right now is ice cream, popsicles and COLD drinks like healthy pineapple whip, strawberry ginger switchel and herbal summer sangria!
This non alcoholic herbal summer sangria is so incredibly refreshing!
I love opening up the fridge and seeing a big pitcher of it {or huge mason jar, if you're like me and have a huge collection of 8 cup mason jars}. It makes me smile every time because I know all of that glorious summer fruit and herbal tea is going to taste so good!
It's so easy to make too!
Hydrating and fruity non alcoholic herbal summer sangria only takes minutes to make.
All you need is something to boil some filtered water in, a pitcher or huge mason jar, a few nourishing herbs and a bunch of summer fruit. That's it!
Start by boiling some filtered water. Once it comes to a boil, remove it from the heat and add in your herbs. This recipe is super flexible and you can omit herbs if you'd like. I use lemon balm, nettle, spearmint and rose hips for this sangria. Let those herbs steep for 15 minutes and get started on your fruit.
While your herbal tea is steeping, prep all of your fruit. Again, this is a super flexible recipe. You can really use whatever summer fruit you prefer. I've loaded thus sangria with pluots, black plums, red plums, peaches and cherries. For berries, we prefer strawberries, blueberries or raspberries.
You can half your summer fruit, leave it whole, or quarter them {and remove the pit} if they're extra large.
Traditional sangria is loaded with a simple syrup usually made from sugar. But not this one!
Summer fruit is sweet on its own, so there's really no ned to add a sweetener unless you prefer your sangria to be a little sweeter.
In that case, you can add a little bit of quality raw honey after the tea has been strained. Or, to help keep it sugar free, you can add a few drops of liquid stevia {this is the one I use, and sometimes if I'm out of this I'll use the vanilla flavored stevia}.
Once your herbal tea is strained, all you need to do is fill a large pitcher or huge mason jar with the prepped summer fruit. Pour the tea over the fruit and pop the sangria into the fridge to fully chill.
If your tea is still super hot, make sure your container is heat safe, otherwise, allow the tea to come to room temperature before pouring in the pitcher/jar.
Make sure it gets super cold before you serve it OR you could serve it over ice.
This delicious sangria keeps well in the fridge too, the fruity flavor will become stronger over time. It's best served and finished within 3 days.
On day one it will be lighter and more herbal in flavor. On day two it will have taken on more of the summer fruit flavors. On day three it's much sweeter.
When I have company coming over, I like to make this non alcoholic herbal summer sangria the day before and serve it on day two.
Hydrate yourself and cool off with this super refreshing non alcoholic herbal summer sangria! It's so delicious, you're going to want to make it every week.

Emily Sunwell-Vidaurri
🙂 that's okay! They're often in a lot of tea blends - it's kind of sweet flavored and has vitamin C. You can leave the rose hips out too. I hope you get to enjoy some!
