Treat yourself to a delicious, healthier, Sugar Free Stevia Sweetened Mint Lemonade! This refreshing, 4-ingredient drink is the perfect afternoon beverage or drink for BBQ’s, potlucks and summertime. It's Keto and Low Carb too!
You don't need loads of sugar for this classic drink!
In fact, you don't need any sugar at all! Sure, you could use local raw honey to sweeten your lemonade, but even though honey is a natural sweetener, it's still a "sugar".
I'm not saying honey sweetened isn't delicious - it is! But I've cut way back in my natural sweeteners intake and have been using a lot more stevia in combination with less natural sweetener or completely subbing the sweetener out and replacing it with stevia.
When the warmer weather hits, we all want to reach for a glass of something refreshing.
There's nothing like a tall glass of icy goodness to sip on in the afternoon on a hot day.
I always have my portioned out daily water to drink.
To make sure I get the amount of water that I need for my body, I have to portion it out everyday into quart mason jars (I fill them up twice which is what works best for my body). This is the only thing I have found that helps me remember to drink enough water.
But honestly, sometimes drinking room temperature water gets boring and I want something more refreshing to sip on.
Sometimes this means infused water. Other times it means switchel.
But there's something so special and nostalgic about lemonade. When spring and summer hits, I crave this mouthwatering drink.
When I was a young girl, my mom took us back to Iowa to visit her family. I had never been there and she hadn't been back to visit since she was a young girl.
We had the best time visiting our family. Our relatives made our experience so special while we were there. They took us to eat wonderful food in the Amish Amana Colonies area, we went to a cheese factory and got bags of fresh cheese curds, we explored the corn fields picking a huge black garbage bag-full of fresh corn and went back to feast on it for dinner.
Such special memories!
But one thing that stood out to me and my mom for many years to come was the Iowa State Fair Lemonade.
We loved it! Of course it was full of sugar, but my goodness it was so special and perfect. My mom recreated it when we went back home and always made it for all spring and summer family gatherings or festivities.
I can almost taste it if I close my eyes and I hold onto these priceless memories of my mom since she's no longer with me earth-side.
Since my childhood, lemonade has been a favorite. It's a must for me during the summertime especially.
I love to serve lemonade on special occasions like the first day of spring, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day and the Fourth of July.
This sugar free lemonade is fun for the whole family!
It's perfect for celebrations because it's non-alcoholic and both kids and adults alike love it. This version uses filtered water, organic freshly squeezed lemon juice, liquid stevia and fresh organic mint. That's it!
It's delicious served over ice for that classic feel and can be garnished with lemon slices or fresh mint.

Sugar Free Stevia Sweetened Mint Lemonade
Treat yourself to a delicious, icy glass of Sugar Free Stevia Sweetened Mint Lemonade! This refreshing, healthier, 4-ingredient, spring and summer drink is the perfect afternoon beverage or fun drink for BBQ's, potlucks and summertime festivities.
Ingredients
- 8 cups filtered water
- ½ cup fresh organic lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon liquid stevia (<-- I recommend and use this brand)
- ½ cup fresh organic mint leaves
- Lots of ice made from filtered water - optional
Instructions
- Add water, lemon juice, stevia and mint leaves to a very large pitcher or 8-cup/half gallon mason jar. Give it a vigorous stir and place it in the refrigerator to chill for at least 4 hours.
- Serve chilled over ice. Enjoy!
Notes
- Storage: Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. If you're storing the lemonade over night, remove the mint as it will become brown and not so pretty.
- If you prefer using essential oils for the mint addition, omit the mint and use 1-2 drops therapeutic-grade spearmint Vitality™ dietary essential oil (<-- this is the ONLY brand I trust and use). For a lavender version, omit the mint and use lavender Vitality™ dietary essential oil instead.

This will go down a treat on a hot summer (or spring) day. I love traditional lemonade but hardly ever have it because of the sugar, but this sounds like a great alternative.

It's a really nice alternative, especially when lemonade is a favorite. I love being able to enjoy it more because there's no sugar 🙂 I hope you get to try some!

So refreshing and perfect for summer! Could I use honey instead?
Emily Sunwell-Vidaurri
Yes of course 🙂 If I didn't make stevia-sweetened, local honey would be my next choice. Honey-sweetened lemonade has been my go-to for many years and it's delicious.
Megan Stevens
I agree; lemonade is so special and thirst-quenching. Yours is SOOO pretty. I LOVE these photos and the colors in them, especially the pink. So spring and summer. Yay for stevia and this lovely, hydrating treat!
Emily Sunwell-Vidaurri
You're so dear! I love the pink too 🙂 Yay for your encouragement and teachings around substituting stevia or using it in combo with different treats and baked goods. This has helped me so much!

Carol Little R.H. @studiobotanica
SO pretty!! I LOVE lemonades (you know i do!!) One of my favourite things about your recipe is the versatility possible.. As someone who grows multiple mint varieties, the flavours would/could change with a different mint ingredient. I immediately go to Spearmint -- but I have apple mint, or orange mint (that's a new one for me last year)!
Lemons + Mint are definitely 'up there' in my 'go to' infused drinkies for summer. I cannot find this brand of Stevia locally so will need to order it. I am looking for a new one to try. Thanks Em!!
Emily Sunwell-Vidaurri
I love that you grow so many! My favorite that we sold at my parent's nursery (when I was a kid) was chocolate mint. I would always go rub my finger and thumb together on a leaf. So fragrant and special. I hope you get to enjoy some soon. xo
STACEY CRAWFORD

I bet that mint makes this spectacular! We made homemade lemonade today but now I’m wishing I’d seen this first! Will definitely try it!
Emily Sunwell-Vidaurri
At least you got to enjoy some! So fun for this time of the year 🙂

I grow my own mint on backyard and love to use it in different healthy recipes. Stevia is a great sugar alternative here!
Emily Sunwell-Vidaurri
That's so nice that you grow your own mint 🙂
Katie Mae @ Nourishing Simplicity
I mint lemonade is delightful! I love that you sweetened this with stevia. That's been my go-to as of late for most of my cold drinks. Now for my spearmint to grow more, I can't wait to make this!
Emily Sunwell-Vidaurri
I hope you get to make some Katie Mae! 🙂
Tessa Simpson
So refreshing, I stated growing my own mint (in a pot) this year, and I like to make blender lemonade, so this is a must try!
