Rich, creamy, delicious, silky, chocolatey goodness - that's this flourless chocolate torte.
If you've never had a torte before, it's not quite a cake, but it kind of is. I know that doesn't make much sense.
If you love chocolate, cake, truffles and fudge, you're going to love this Double Chocolate Flourless Chocolate Torte! It does not disappoint!
The texture is like a combination between a very soft, dense chocolate cake paired with chocolate fudge and chocolate truffles. This Double Chocolate Flourless Chocolate Torte is amazing friends!
Here's the thing, this real food recipe is actually one of the first chocolate desserts I made on Recipes to Nourish many, many years ago. This was before I learned how to be a professional food photographer and was using my old camera - a digital point and shoot, and I had no idea what I was doing with photography.
I tried so hard to make the photos pretty and I actually used the same crossing forks design on top of the flourless chocolate torte, but I knew nothing about lighting, editing and so much more.
Maybe it was my lack of photography skills or the fact that horizontal photos don't do well on Pinterest anymore, but my post started to collect dust in the internet world. This meant because it got almost no traffic, it was best for me to delete the post and recipe so my blog wouldn't get dinged for having a post that was just bogging down the blog.
I know that might seem weird, but there are LOTS of things us bloggers have to do to play with the "internet Gods" in order to go somewhere. It's a tough job, with constant changes, but I love it.
We are frantically looking for your fabulous chocolate torte recipe and cannot find it online"
That torte was such a hit and every chocolate torte recipe I've tried since has not compared to yours."
So, that being said, I knew it was time to bring this reader favorite back.
I hope you give it a try and enjoy it as much as my family does and as much as my loyal Recipes to Nourish readers do.
This Double Chocolate Flourless Chocolate Torte is so easy to make! It only has 7 real food ingredients. These ingredients are so common that you might just have them all on hand, especially if you're a baker.

Ingredients
- 10 ounces stevia-sweetened chocolate chips or allergy-friendly chocolate chips
- ¾ cup grass-fed butter, ghee or coconut oil
- ½ cup light-colored honey
- 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ⅛ teaspoon sea salt (<-- this is my favorite sea salt)
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder or cacao powder (<-- this is the fair-trade cocoa I use)
- 6 organic or pastured-raised eggs
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Grease a 9" springform cake pan or 9" cake pan then line the bottom with a circle piece of unbleached parchment paper.
- In a double boiler or using a homemade "double boiler" (fill a medium-size saucepan ¼-1/2 way full with water, then cover with a heatproof large glass bowl - see below for my favorite recommended bowls) - then place over medium-low heat to bring the water to a low boil, then simmer. Add the chocolate chips and healthy fat of choice to the double boiler or glass bowl. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon or heatproof silicone spatula until everything is melted, glossy and evenly distributed. Remove from the heat immediately.
- Add the honey, vanilla, salt and cocoa powder, stirring until fully incorporated.
- Using a handheld mixer (or a standing mixer fitted with the whisk attachment), add the eggs to the chocolate batter one egg at a time, beating on low or medium-low speed until everything is fully incorporated - the batter will be thinner than a typical cake batter.
- Pour the chocolate mixture into the greased and lined cake pan. Bake for about 40-45 minutes or until the torte is set but still slightly wet in the middle, but not giggly. Note: The torte will slightly puff up when fully baked and will deflate when removed from the oven. Allow the torte to cool at room temperature for 25 minutes, then transfer the torte (still in the pan) to the refrigerator for 2 hours to continue cooling.
- Remove from the fridge and springform pan or cake pan, transferring it onto a serving plate. Slice the torte, cutting each slice with a clean, dry knife, making sure to clean the knife between each slice with a clean towel or warm water.
Notes
- Serve this delicious Flourless Chocolate Torte with homemade whipped cream, homemade honey sweetened vanilla ice cream and/or with fresh berries - or dust the top with organic powdered sugar or powdered monk fruit sweetener.
- Storage: Keeps well in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator (but if you're anything like my family, you will have devoured it before 3 days).
